Sepia Chicago, IL

I LOVE the food in Chicago.  It inspires my taste buds and also inspires me to GAIN SOME WEIGHT.  Dagummit.

My often mentioned BFF/neighbor/partner in crime Lauren took me out for a lovely lunch at Sepia (pronounced see-pia).  She asked me if I had heard of it and it bothered me that I hadn't so I jumped at the chance to try something new and delicious.  This was the house made taglietelli, wild mushrooms, grana padono. The flavor was so delicate and the pasta had just the perfect amount of bite.

How cute is that little mushroom?

I am a slave to pork.  If it's on the menu I'm ordering it.  This was the fig stuffed pork tenderloin.  Oh Baby Jesus.

I'm not always into frou frou food, but this wasn't frou frou.  It was just beautiful.  The flavor lead the way and it was proportioned perfectly for lunch.

Lauren ordered the pan roasted sea trout, with sunchokes, maitake mushrooms, and red wine. Ok so I'm not a big fish person and had you asked me if I would ever, ever fish skin I'd tell you to go fly a kite.  This skin was crispy and light and amazing.  My word has been rocked.

Here are some shots of the menu:

I can't wait to go back and try more of Sepia's delicious food.
Stay hungry!
