Seashell Ornament

This weekend was kind of nutty - I was busy cooking, decorating, cleaning, and generally getting ready for the holidays. Oh, and I left my purse at the movie theater last night after we saw "The Descendants", so I spent last night worrying about things like identity theft and never seeing my beloved L.L. Bean Signature clutch ever again.

Clearly my brain is still in Brooklyn because when I called the theater this morning, they had my purse, safe & sound. I love country life. This particular cinema is one town over and happens to be across the street from a small beach. Once I had retrieved my belongings, I decided to take a few minutes to go for a walk on the beach and chill out.

I was the only person there. It was relaxing. And very, very cold.

On the way back to my car, I picked up a seashell to make into an ornament. Here's what I used:

seashell
hot glue gun
glitter paint & paintbrush
ribbon

I started by cleaning the shell and letting it dry. Then I covered it in two healthy coats of the glitter paint and, once it dried, glued the ribbon to the back of the shell. Easy peasy.

It's hard to see quite how glittery the shell is. Here's a close up...

What did you do this weekend to relax? Or is everyone waiting until after the 25th to take a breather? Either way, stay calm and stay homey!

  1. Very pretty (and simple). I wish I could go to the beach!
