Valentine's Day Banner

I know it's a month until Valentine's Day.  My husband has been reminding me of this since I hung up this banner.  And not in the "so excited for Valentine's Day" way, either.  More like in the "this better not still be hanging up for our Super Bowl party" way.

But.

I know a lot of people don't like Valentine's Day.  I'm not one of them.  I liked V-Day when I was growing up and my dad would always get nice chocolates for me & my sister.  I liked it when I was single and drank wine (or Milwaukee's Best) with my girlfriends.  I liked it when we lived in New York City and my favorite restaurant had paper cupids hanging up.  And I like it now that I have a house full of empty walls waiting to be decorated with hearts.

I saw an idea on Pinterest to make a banner using colored paint cards.  During our trip to the Home Depot this weekend, I picked up a few in reds & pinks.  And by "a few", I mean "a purseful".

Using a heart-shaped punch, I quickly amassed a pile of colorful hearts.

I grabbed some curling ribbon, leftover from Christmas, and my glue gun.  One by one, I began gluing the hearts to the ribbon...

... and hung it all up on our wagon wheel!

I liked it so much (...and had so many extra hearts) that I made one for our mudroom mirror, too:

Happy (early) Valentine's Day!  Stay homey!
