I picked up a package of pearl-colored glass ornaments at the craft store for 50% off because I knew I'd be able to turn each ornament into a unique little creation. Here's a simple ornament using just one of these glass balls, a black Sharpie, and colored pencils...
I started by drawing a symmetrical design onto the ornament in black Sharpie, adding to it as I went along...
I drew some more...
...and once the entire glass ball was covered, I decided to add some color.
I broke out my "special occasion colored pencils" (yes, that's an actual thought that occurs in my brain) and started to color in the ornament...
I colored some more...
and finally, here it is:
I love that it looks like a mix between stained glass and a Dr. Seuss book (and that it's not traditional Christmas colors but still very festive!). Twenty days left to go... stay homey!
Wow!! That looks so cool! There are endless possibilities with that technique!
ReplyDeletegreat idea, i would never have thought this was possible!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Looks like stained glass. I picked up some of those clear glass ones similar to this. I used paints and practiced on three of them until I finally figured out what I was doing. Thank goodness for 50% off deals. I didn't feel so bad practicing before I got (semi)perfection. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, these are very cool. I had no idea you could even color on ornaments. Thanks for the tip. Nice job!
